CBC Appoint New General Secretary
At the meeting of the Trustees of the Christian Broadcasting Council, held in Stoke-on-Trent on Monday 1st September 2003, it was confirmed that J Peter Wilson had been appointed the new General Secretary of the Christian Broadcasting Council.

He succeeds David K Rose who retired from the post at the end of June this year.
J Peter Wilson has worked in publishing and broadcasting for over thirty years, having first reviewed films on BBC Radio Leeds in the 1975. During the 1980s he worked in publishing (Macmillan Publishing and Barnsley Chronicle) while continuing part-time local radio work. In 1993 he wrote the successfully licence application for the Harrogate ILR licence.
Peter was the first Station Director of 97.2 Stray FM and after their first RAJAR, which showed a 30% Reach, he had the opportunity to join the Midlands charity Christian Vision in 1995. He established music scheduling and programming on their first radio station, Radio Christian Voice in Zambia. He later directed the charity's campaign for a Christian regional ILR licence in the Midlands. Following the awarding of the second West Midlands licence to another applicant he left Christian Vision in October 2001 to work as a full-time broadcasting consultant. This work included being the E
vangelical Alliance’s Broadcasting Consultant working on the new Communications Act and also helping radio companies with their development plans.
The Chairman of CBC, Olave Snelling, says, “Peter brings to the role of General Secretary of CBC an enthusiasm and knowledge that will be of benefit to all our members. He will be able to encourage them to deal with the realities of the legal situation in this country and to make full use of the opportunities now available to Christian broadcasters in the UK.”
“This country needs, in addition to the BBC, quality independent Christian broadcasting stations that are able to bring the love and joy of the Lord Jesus to the listeners and viewers through programmes that are relevant to the United Kingdom today”, she added.
